V S Naipul, Sebastian Faulks, Pat Barker, Irvine Welsh, Benjamin Zephaniah, Roy Jenkins, Allan Ahlberg, Tom Paulin, Kate Atkinson, Caryl Phillips, Douglas Coupland, U A Fanthorpe, Roy Hattersley, P D James, Roger McGough, Sheridan Morley, Ruth Rendell, Alexei Sayle and Mary Warnock are just some of the three hundred writers appearing at this year's Literature Festival. In the year of a General Election, and the centenary of Marconi's first broadcast across theAtlantic, the Festival pulls no punches investigating ideas of power and literature. For younger readers the Book It! Programme offers fun activities and storytelling for all ages.
