Taoub blends the sinuous sound of live Moroccan music, modern physical theatre and the tried and true techniques of hundreds of years of acrobatics. Punchy and raw, Taoub is family entertainment in the truest sense. Five of the show's 12 performers are members of the Hammich family, for whom the pursuit of acrobatics stretches back over eight generations honing their craft on the sandy beaches of Tangier. Themes of friendly competition and solidarity, as well as subtle social commentary, are presented with tongue-in-cheek wit. Aerial antics and optical illusions are accompanied by traditional Arabic music.
