Triptych Shows - T01237643732

Following the sell-out success of Marlena Shaw at Triptych last year, we are proud to welcome another female dance legend - the Billboard-conquering, million-selling, Grammy-nominated Queen of Rare Groove; the celebrated deep soul and proto-disco diva; the R&B, funk and gospel luminary, dignitary - Gwen McRae. McRae has sung with Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Glen Campbell. She was a pioneering figure in Miami’s emerging R&B scene of the 1970’s, while her national chart successes from 1969 onwards (such as Lead Me On and He’s Not You) were eclipsed by her global 1975 hit, Rockin’ Chair. The 80’s saw the Florida-born performer revel in upbeat R&B and smooth soul ballads - resulting in the much-sampled ‘81 dance-floor classic Funky Sensation and later seeing tracks All This Love I’m Giving and 90% of Me is You define the burgeoning London rare-groove scene. Playing her live Scottish debut at Triptych, McCrae is set to thrill crowds with her seductive and uplifting back-catalogue, securing her mantle as First Lady of Deep Soul.
