Details

This symposium is a preview of 2010's Brighton Festival premiere The Lion's Face, a dramatic and richly textured opera that explores the impact of Alzheimer's disease. Now - in the lead up to this world premiere - composer Elena Langer, librettist Glyn Maxwell, singers and musicians from the ensemble and a panel of experts in the field join forces for a special live preview event as part of Brighton's 2009 Science Festival. Part performance, part symposium, this unique collaboration with the Institute of Psychiatry (IoP) presents live excerpts from the opera, keynote addresses from a range of speakers and a stimulating panel discussion on Alzheimer's itself. For opera lovers, science fans and anyone who has been touched by the social, emotional and physical impacts of Alzheimer's.
