Details

Over the past two decades Mtiebi have kept Georgian traditional music's authentic sound alive. Most of their repertoire has been collected by members of the ensemble learning by ear in the true oral tradition on field trips into the villages of the regions Caucasus Mountains, where poetry and song are part of everyday life. Usually unaccompanied, the music is divided into three parts which weave together to make spine-chilling harmonies, resulting in a small group of Georgians sounding like a large choir.
