T1734700151In May, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra's residency continues with Chief Conductor Mariss Jansons, who conducts a programme of Richard Strauss' works (12 May); the next day, Mariss Jansons gives a public lecture on conducting at LSO St Luke's, in conversation with Viennese dramaturg and cultural critic Peter Blaha. Using audio and video footage of renowned conductors, Jansons explores the art of conducting, communication between conductor and the orchestra, rehearsal techniques and how interpretation is transferred to orchestral musicians. The residency comes to an end with Honorary Conductor Bernard Haitink conducting Bruckner's Symphony No 5 (20 May). Beyond the concert platform, nine public masterclasses complement the performances. | |
