'One' has been inspired by the beliefs surrounding the Hindu god Shiva. Shiva, one of the supreme triumvirate, and the god of both destruction and creation was often represented as simultaneously male and female, to explore the relationship between destruction and creation and reveal the vital interdependence of male and female.
