Greg Dyke: Reinventing the Public Sphere
T0
There's no more pressing cultural or political problem than the reinvention of the public sphere - whether that's in the form of public space, public interest, public service or public realm. Yet we seem to have no new language in which we can mount a sustainable defence of the public sphere. In the first of a series of events, Greg Dyke, the Director General of the BBC, will be in conversation, discussing the BBC, public sector broadcasting, and what constitutes a defence of the public sector broadcaster in a multi-channel world. Upcoming talks in this series will include: the reinvention of public space, with a contribution by Rem Koolhaas; the invention of public space in a digital world; and the public control of knowledge in an increasingly privatised world.
