Movement: Duets and Solo

This research presentation and discussion investigates a real time relationship between sound, gesture and dance. By using techniques of sound analysis in conjunction with motion sensors to monitor the musician's physical actions while playing. A musician determines the movement of the virtual character, its actions, speed and orientation via its translation and rotational axis. Through the combination of elements the aim of the work is to form an interactive system to enable an improvisational relationship between music and dance in performance context.
