In Shakespeare's Shoes - Staged Readings
T0
Five plays have been chosen for this season's staged readings which celebrate the 'gentle craft' of shoe-making and feature a shoe-maker or cobbler in title or cameo roles. These staged readings are part of a thirty-year project to record, with professional casts, all the non-Shakespeare plays of the period. Actors read from the script but have 'their exits and their entrances' on the Globe Education Centre's replica early seventeenth century stage. They breathe life into work that 'hath not been dead though it hath slept' providing audiences with a once in a lifetime opportunity to hear plays by Shakespeare's contemporaries.
