In this recration of a Gewandhaus programme of 1864 which follows the Mendelssohn study day, soloists of the OAE combine Mendelssohn's gloriousl exuberant Octet with Beethoven's most lyrical cello sonata (a favourite of Mendelssohn). Queen Elizabeth Hall
