Production details

Selling promises, ignoring causes: The role of genetics in health prevention. Claims that genetics will revolutionize health care often hail a new era of "prediction and prevention" using genetic tests. Will an over emphasis on genetics shift attention and resources from tackling the underlying causes of ill-health, such as poverty, diet, pollution and smoking? Helen Wallace is Deputy Director of GeneWatch UK, the science-policy organisation which campaigns for public accountability in genetic research and the application of genetic technologies.
