Award winning Shadwell Opera present Janacek's dramatic song cycle Diary of One Who Disappeared, alongside the newly commissioned piece for five voices and piano The Grief of Antigone based on Sophocles' Oedipus at Colonus, by composer Edward Nesbit. Diary of One Who Disappeared transposes Janacek's countryside story of a farmer's 'infatuation' with a 'gypsy' girl into a complex contemporary tale. The double bill will form a startling exploration of themes of travel, exile and place.
