Five ambitious and outward looking playwrights get to the heart of their new play. Hampstead Theatre has challenged Satinder Kaur Chohan, Samantha Ellis, Juliet Gilkes Romero, Joel Horwood and Liverpool playwright Kieran Lynn to search for the essential quality of a big new play to make an impact on a large stage in twenty minutes. The writers have responded with play extracts inspired by the themes of revolution, musical theatre, leadership and legacy, empowerment and nation building. Start Nights take place regularly at Hampstead Theatre and offer both emerging and experienced writers an opportunity to experiment with new work in public performance.
