Only in America, you might say. However, the reality is somewhat closer to home. Best of British by Joseph Pugh is about the worst of British, those ultra-competitive types who just aren't good for society. They say that power corrupts, well, sometimes power does more than that, it actually leads to murder, intrigue and dumped corpses. Bungling officials administer a system of social pruning that nobody remembers authorising and individuals are left to find their own level in life's pecking order. It could happen......
