Kennedy's Children archiveThe year is 1974, five people in a New York bar explore their pasts from the heady days of the '60's. The characters trace, in alternating monologues, their rich, heroic and courageous lives. The violent death of John F Kennedy, the disintegration of America's Camelot and the Vietnam war which bled the nation leaving a disillusioned youth and unhealed wounds many for many Americans. Wanda, a secretary-turned-schoolmaster, has tried to follow JFK's Eternal Flame of idealism despite attempts to smear his name. Sparger, a flamboyant, dazzling actor, has grown cold and cynical watching New York's underground theatre movement go crazy and commercial. Rona, a political activist, sees her dreams vanishing. Mark a Vietnam veteran, has become a psychotic drug addict trying to understand the rights and wrongs of the war. Carla, a beautiful young aspiring actress who wanted to be the next Marilyn Monroe, traces with wit and courage the process by which she has become 'plaything' for producers and agents.
