Last Dance at the Rialto archiveLast Dance at The Rialto has been written by Dave Potts, a 20yr old Constable who was injured at The Rialto 30 years ago. Telling the story of new recruit Ben Parkinson and with a strong and thought provoking fictional narrative, Last Dance identifies the issues behind the rioting and examines the emotional responses of how people react in violent situations. On the eve of the rioting Ben is reunited with a childhood friend - Dezzy a garage mechanic. Their paths cross a number of times during the weekend. With growing tension on the streets they find themselves on opposing sides and struggle to rekindle their friendship and explain the chaos around them. Ben has to decide between his allegiance to his former friend and the entrenched attitudes of his older colleague Frank. 'There is no better place than a riot to find out the truth about yourself'.
