Say Hi to the Rivers and the Mountains archiveThe six-strong original band - led by founder Sean O'Hagan - will play live, accompanied by a four piece string section, alongside 'the spoken word', as three actors read Coe's new story. The show features lighting design, direction and values associated with quality theatre, creating an unusual and memorable piece for music, literature and drama audiences. A long-time High Llamas fan, Jonathan wrote the hour-long short story in response to their music. His starting point was the line 'Say Hi to the Rivers and Mountains' from the Llamas' song Rollin', and the result is a poignant tale of how rampant commercial development can transform brutalist 1960s council estates - yet trample on the human memories and stories behind their very existence. It is part love story and part tale of our times. Capitalism versus poetry; potential return on investment for FTSE property developers versus the grim reality of the oft-broken, but sadly forgotten lives of the communities which grew from the concrete jungle of Britain's inner-cities.
