Soldiers of the Queen archiveOn the night of February 23rd 1890, on Hart's Hill overlooking Ladysmith in South Africa, two soldiers face each other in the darkness across 200 yards of no-man's-land. A wounded Inniskilling Fusilier from Downpatrick in Co. Down is flush in the gunsights of a Boer patriarch who has seen his sons slaughtered before him. A moving, compassionate, eloquent work.
