The Communist Threat archiveAn intimate exploration of class, social differences and the personal cost of duty. Vienna, 1950; two British spies await orders to execute a traitor. Hiding out in the squalid basement of a luxury hotel, they presumed his arrival to be imminent but as days turn into nights nerves begin to fray... Topical and relevant to the news agenda today, The Communist Threat explores ideas around social class, nationalism, duty to your country and Britain's place in the world and it comes as we recognise milestone events such as the anniversary of the First World War and discuss the rise of UKIP as a political force. The play asks what patriotism is and how it differs from nationalism and why as a society we hold people up as war heroes.
