The Happy Lads archiveThe Happy Lads are a troupe of actors sent to a war zone to entertain Japanese soldiers in their fight against the guerrillas. They resent being forced to perform bloodthirsty routines and run away from the base camp to hide in a nearby tower leaving their leader to face the music. The relationship between the four men becomes increasingly strained and their daily bickering becomes a microcosm of the larger war outside. When a newcomer arrives, the group rehearse episodes from their show just to boost morale - but their next public performance comes sooner than any of them could have predicted.
