Three Knights and a Welshman archiveThis play features Richard Burton, Sir John Gielgud, Sir Ralph Richardson and Sir Laurence Olivier. The story is based on true events which took place during the filming of ?WAGNER', the eight hour bio-epic from director Tony Palmer in 1982. This film was the one and only occasion when all four stage and screen legends featured in a motion picture together. Our play is inspired by a dinner party held by Richard Burton for the three knights in April 1982 at the famous Palais Schwarzenberg, Austria. Burton had at one time been lauded as the heir apparent to Olivier but in the eyes of many he squandered his rare talent in pursuit of fame, celebrity, privilege, wealth... and women.
