The play expresses the relationship between global privilege and poverty, but does so through an intensely human story. It tells of a mother's search for a body part for her son, injured in a school shoot-out somewhere in the Western world. Her journey takes her to one of the poorest places on earth, where a desperate young woman must sell her kidney in order to survive.
