Wilde archiveIt's the Paris of 1900 and nearing the end of his life, Oscar Wilde sits alone at a table outside a boulevard cafe. What little money he possesses will not pay for his drinks, as he waits for friends who do not turn up. As he drinks his Absinthe, his only visitors are ghosts from the past, characters from his plays, stories and personal encounters dimly recollected. A ghostly procession of memories walk silently past him along the boulevard...This play seeks to look beyond Wilde's flamboyance and frivolity to focus upon his vulnerability, warmth and generosity and show how he never lost these qualities even at the end of his life when most of his friends had deserted him.
