After her father dies, Pollyanna goes to stay with her Aunt Polly. Living in a strict household Pollyanna tries to find something to be glad about in everything. Gradually the whole village becomes infected by Pollyanna's zest for life and everyone plays the 'glad game', everyone except Aunt Polly! But then something terrible happens that leaves even Pollyanna unable to find a reason to be glad...
