Details

A beautifully shot documentary which charts the course of Rudolf Nuryev's extraordinary life - including footage from the 1958 Moscow dance contest which helped establish him as the most exciting young star of his time, newsreel reports of his defection to the West, and his eventual return to visit his mother on her deathbed. Finally, after his triumph as artistic director of the Paris Opera Ballet, comes his decline and disastrous 'comeback' at the Kirov - a poignant close to a career as dramatic as the roles which he made his own.
