Ahead of his Australia-Japan tour, Dorian Ford previews new material including solo, trio and quartet pieces featuring a special guest vocalist to perform five songs from settings of the medieval Orfeo myth. The band features Mao Yamada on bass, and a master percussionist to provide an interesting alternative to the traditional rhythm section. Expect notes and atmospheres ranging from the surrealism of Satie, the impressionism of Bill Evans, through to European jazz-rock and ECM vocal textures.
