Thomas Lehmen is a German choreographer and performer internationally acclaimed for his contribution to the new landscape of dance. He works between the boundaries of dance, philosophy and theatre. Is the world really how you see it? With Thomas Lehmen's new piece, a solo entitled Schrottplatz ('scrapyard' in English), a seemingly absurd set-up questions what we think we know. Lehmen performs using various objects which he uses to share his understanding of the world (or lack of). He explains an electric cable to a tomato, an artwork to a football and a newspaper to a tinned sardines. He also gives the objects a demonstration of his choreographic ideas. This performance playfully questions our perceptions of the world and also of the theatre.
