Details

First performed in 1941 and set in the pioneering days in America. Paul Bunyan is a lumberjack who never ages but grows taller every day. Paul marries and has a daughter but his wife leaves him. Later when she dies he gets his daughter back and she helps the camp cook - who decides to try and kill Paul but comes to his senses. Winner, 1998 Olivier Award for Best New Opera.
