Experience dance in a new dimension three fresh, bite sized performances showcasing the best up and coming professional choreographers and their collaborators. Three super talented artists let their imaginations run riot creating compelling and varied performances mixing physical brilliance, music and film. Accompanied by A Blank Canvas, a foyer installation by Heather Eddington's State of Flux dancefilm company, blending dance, film and animation. Darren Ellis’ Sticks And Bones is a solo for Darren and his drumsticks exploring practice and the quest for perfection. When the sticks take control is when the trouble starts! Mickael Marso Riviere’s Appel, a trio for two dancers and a musician playing bansuri (flute) and tabla, is inspired in equal parts by B-boying, capoeira and contemporary dance. In Silence Speaks Volumes by Freddie Opoku-Addaie, powerful partnering and expansive gestures weave a rich, multicultural movement vocabulary for five dancers, performed to a soundtrack of cello and sampled lyrics from traditional Ghanaian Asante tribe music. Part of Dance Currents 2010.
