Dancer, choreographer and former elite-athlete Pierre Rigal stages his childhood memory of a football game that shattered the dreams of a young boy and a nation. Taking the story of the controversial 1982 World Cup semi-final between France and West Germany, Rigal explores a memory that is both personal and collective in a series of beautiful dreamlike sequences. Through this theatrical interpretation, he explores the mythologies - both sublime and ridiculous - that inform our collective memory. Rigal's rich choreography, blurs the boundaries of circus and dance as the performers, creature-like, move across the stage in a play of shadow and light revealing the power of sport to create potent myths, icons and cliches
