Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment - The Works archiveThe OAE is much more than one of the world's pre-eminent period instrument ensembles. It works regularly with conductors who specialise in both early music and the modern repertoire, and has explored the work of composers from Bach to Mahler, Handel to Borodin. The Works is the OAE's unique series that gives audiences a guided tour of selected classical masterpieces. This time the series turns its attention to Pergolesi's 'Stabat Mater', probably his best-known sacred work, which was later arranged by a number of other famous composers, including Johann Sebastian Bach. Let director Steven Devine and our presenter guide you through the music movement by movement, with a complete performance following a Q&A with the artists. There's music in the bar before the concert, together with a chance to meet musicians afterwards. Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment - The Works website.
