"The Emperor of Indian Saxophone" Kadri Gopalnath, leads an evening of soul-stirring improvisational music. Combining ethereal music from the worlds of south Indian classical, Indo- Jazz and Blues, musical innovator Gopalnath, who has played at the BBC Proms and many international jazz festivals, has modified the alto saxophone to bring it into the classical raga repertoire. Accompanying him to create soaring melodies and mind-blowing percussive rhythms are outstanding British violinist Jyotsna Srikanth and Anoor Ananthakrishna Sharma on mridangham, the south Indian barrel-shaped drum.
