Lysistrata - Make Love, Not War? archiveLove, war and women's lib. Written in the 4th Century BC this is one of the greatest of anti-war plays, as well as a bawdy comedy. Lysistrata and the younger women of Athens hold a sex strike in an attempt to stop the 20 year Peloponnesian war whilst she also leads the older women on an assault of the Acropolis. TYPT - Talawa Young People's Theatre - presents a 21st Century reworking of Lysistrata, a timeless play about the bravery of women in the face of conflict. The adaptation of Aristophenes' classic play has been brought to life by a dynamic group of 18- to 25-year-olds under the guidance of Talawa Theatre Company.
