Participatory performance, Cosmos, will use storytelling, dance, puppetry, music and digital arts to introduce youngsters to some of the biggest scientific question. Children will explore the science, wonder and mystery of the universe in this production, which is timed to coincide with the International Year of Astronomy and National Science and Engineering Week. It follows the story of a young girl who needs to travel through the solar system to retrieve her 'story star' after it disappears. On the way she meets all the planets, personified as characters, before eventually finding her dying star. A collaboration between Nottingham Trent University, innovative theatre makers Dragon Breath Theatre and Leicester Theatre Trust, the show is being performed to four to seven-year-olds and is the result of 18 months’ research and development by artists, scientists, teachers, students and pupils.
