Details
More than any composer before him, Leonard Bernstein blurred the lines between high art and popular music. The songs of legendary Broadway musicals such as West Side Story and Candide are not only hugely popular to this day but still retain Bernstein's unique voice. Renowned Bernstein interpreters Claron McFadden and Roberta Alexander present a programme of lesser known songs and hits from his best known musicals, including selections from song cycles I Hate Music, La Bonne Cuisine and West Side Story.
