Adapted from the original black and white film with Alec Guinness which was adapted from the original book Israel Rank. Louis, an half-Italian aristocrat whose mother has been cast out of the family, decides to reclaim his family name. But he's ninth in line so there are eight family members to 'dispose of'. All the D'Ascoynes are played by the same actor.
