Details
Jayme Stone, a young Canadian banjo player, decided to go to Mali to find out what kind of music had been left behind when slave ships brought instruments like the ekontin and the ngoni from West Africa, finally evolving into what we know today as the banjo. He met kora player Mansa Sissoko and the pair recorded the JUNO-winning album Africa to Appalachia. The whole thing is completely at ease with itself; a real joy to listen to. With accompanying musicians.
