Barts Choir, one of London's largest regularly performing choirs, returns to the Royal Albert Hall in support of the Eve Appeal, the charity raising funds for research aimed at better detection and improved treatment of gynaecological cancers. The German Requiem, Brahms's deeply-felt response to the deaths of his mother and his friend and mentor Robert Schumann, was the first of his works to achieve widespread recognition.
