The origins of Fodens (Coutois) Band stretch back to 1900 and the Boer War, when it was formed in the village of Elworth to mark the relief of Mafeking. Since then the Band has enjoyed an illustrious career, achieving champion status in 1908, a position it has since maintained. Foden are winners of the 1999 British Brass Band of the year competition. The band maintains a world class reputation for providing quaility entainment in the field of brass music with a traditional and unique style.
