Details
One of the most exciting songwriters to emerge for a long time, Kathryn went to art college in Newcastle, and played her first ever gig in the city. Her first album
Dog Leap Stairs was released in 1999 to critical approval, and the follow-up,
Little Black Numbers was shortlisted for the Mercury Music Prize in 2000. With sparse tunes, rich words, and beautiful arrangements she has a crystal clear, impossibly moving voice. Mercury Prize nominated artist Kathryn Williams appears for one of just a few autumn shows with her band, The Pond. Collectively The Pond - who describe their sound as trip hot folk - are Kathryn plus bass legend Simon Edwards and Ginny Clee. For this concert, the first set will be Kathryn playing solo, and the second set will feature The Pond and their new album.
