Part of the BBC Proms. This year's performance of Beethoven's Ninth, a sought-after fixture of every Proms season, concludes the visit by Osmo Vänskä and the Minnesota Orchestra, who together have recorded one of the most widely acclaimed Beethoven cycles of recent years. In the mystical heights and ecstatic momentum of the Ninth's final hymn to universal brotherhood they are joined by the BBC Symphony Chorus and an quartet of international soloists. Former Radio 3 New Generation Artist Lisa Batiashvili returns to the Proms to play the tragic and consoling violin concerto by one of the last century's most eloquent composers.
