Scottish Fiddle Orchestra archiveThe Scottish Fiddle Orchestra is one of Scotland's foremost traditional music organisations. Formed in 1980, deriving their origins from Fiddlers' Rallies. 2009 has been designated the 'Homecoming Year' for Scots from abroad. The internationally acclaimed SFO will create a lasting memory for visitors from overseas, and at home, with their programme of their great fiddle music, piping, songs and dances. 2009 is also the 250th Anniversary of the birth of our National Bard. Included in the programme are many of the popular Burns’ songs and great fiddle music which influenced him, culminating in John Mason’s Overture 'Tam o’ Shanter and Cutty Sark' which weaves together song and fiddle tunes to mirror the story and emotion of the epic poem. The whole show is again in the capable hands of our own Jim McColl MBE., of Beechgrove Garden fame whose pawky humour is so much enjoyed by audiences world wide. The Slow Airs and songs will play to your emotions, and the rhythmic music will send you home with dancing in your feet. Scottish Fiddle Orchestra website.
