Details

The Armed Man - A Mass for Peace was a special Millennium commission from the Royal Armouries in Leeds and is the latest in a six centuries old tradition of 'Armed Man' masses, which take the 15th century French song L'Homme Arme as their starting point. Large-scale in both scope and size, The Armed Man is a profoundly moving yet very accessible work, which uses the most traditional of musical forms to explore an all too contemporary subject: the search for peace in a hostile world. The 2018 Welsh Proms opens with our First World War centenary tribute featuring music by Walton, Elgar, Vaughan Williams & Sir Karl Jenkins. Experience the thrilling grandiose of the Spitfire Prelude & Fugue, the spectacular Finale from Enigma Variations, together with the shimmering beauty of The Lark Ascending and the awesome & inspirational Armed Man.
