Details

The Armed Man - A Mass for Peace was a special Millennium commission from the Royal Armouries in Leeds and is the latest in a six centuries old tradition of 'Armed Man' masses, which take the 15th century French song L'Homme Arme as their starting point. Large-scale in both scope and size, The Armed Man is a profoundly moving yet very accessible work, which uses the most traditional of musical forms to explore an all too contemporary subject: the search for peace in a hostile world. To mark the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme.

Performers David Childs (euphonium), Kathryn Rudge (soprano), Zands Duggan (hand percussion), Joo Yeon Sir (violin).
Music Karl Jenkins. Producer Raymond Gubbay. Conductor Karl Jenkins (Sir). Company Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Company Royal Choral Society.
