The Wiyos, from Brooklyn, New York featured in the BBC documentary Folk America: Hollerers, Stompers and Old Time Ramblers as a hallmark band in the resurgence of traditional American music over the past decade. Their inspiration comes from the great dance bands of the 1920's and ?30's; the early swing syncopations, the grit and intensity of country blues, the bouncing rhythms of piedmont fingerpickers combined with the physical comedy of vaudeville performers.
