The Hindustani and Carnatic musical traditions are the two faces of the Indian classical arts. One concentrates on fluidity of tone and the other freedom of structure. Both involve complex improvisation, leaving a constant element of chance in what is heard. This is the second in a short series exploring the great musical heritage of India. Manasamitra returns to The Carriageworks following a successful series of events in 2009. Divya Reddy The Saraswati Veena is an ancient and distinguished instrument from South India. It is adept in showing complex rhythm patterns as well as the melodious beauty of South Indian ragas. We are delighted to invite Divya Reddy from Bangalore on the Veena who will be accompanied by RN Prakash.
