Details
Birmingham Royal Ballet presents an evening of work to mark the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare's death. David Bintley's new ballet, The Tempest, conjures Prospero's magical isle from Shakespeare's final work. At once enchanting and elemental, this is the powerful story of a man determined to right past wrongs. Birmingham Royal Ballet's second programme begins with Jos? Limon's The Moor's Pavane, a one-act tragedy of Othello, followed by the Shakespeare Suite, which sees Bintley set the Bard's best-loved characters to a swinging Duke Ellington score. The evening ends with Jessica Lang's new one-act ballet Wink, inspired by the poetry of Shakespeare's sonnets.
