A light-hearted and poignant look at the effect of the arrival of a baby on a couple's relationship. Combining dance, spoken word and sound, 2+1 explores the effects of a new baby on a couple's relationship - the changes to physical contact, attentiveness, and attention spans brought about by sleepless nights and dirty nappies. A washing machine sits at the back of the stage, spewing out a seemingly endless supply of clean clothes. Sometimes the couple fight back, and sometimes the washing machine wins... Inspired by the personal experiences of choreographer and new parent Tara Pilbrow, 2+1 details the many transformations that a young couple undergo when parenthood hits. The piece follows a young couple as they try to navigate the challenges of their new life, learning to manage (or pretend to), and most importantly, understanding how to communicate, support each other, and keep the romance alive.
