The Bovary Tale archiveA musical based on Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert. The Bovary Tale is the tragic story of Charles Bovary, country doctor, and his double widowhood. His tale is told by Lheureux, supplier of goods and credit to the people of Yonville, in rural Normandy. On the death of Charles's frugal first wife, he is drawn to take another: the spendthrift Emma, whose decadent affairs and obsession with Paris fashion leave her laden with unmanageable debts. The performance features an opera aria from Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor.
